ABOUT THE EVENT

The lack of women in leadership is not a representation issue. The issue is that leaders aren’t creating environments where everyone is valued and has an opportunity to advance.

Why aren’t leaders creating these environments? Research by Michelle King points to denial; most leaders are in denial that women have different experiences at work than men.

On September 16, in a live, interactive Harvard Business Review webinar, King will describe the gender inequity issues that persist in organizations, will identify the root causes of these issues, and will suggest practices and behaviors to address gender inequity.

King is the director of inclusion at Netflix and author of The Fix: Overcome the Invisible Barriers That Are Holding Women Back at Work. In this webinar she will draw from extensive research and personal experiences. She will provide advice on:

  •  Getting to know the barriers that women face
  • Disrupting denial in your organization
  • Managing the behaviors that cause inequity

With so many diversity and inclusion activities underway it is easy to assume that progress is being made. Yet none of these efforts guarantees that women will be valued in the same way as men. That’s where leaders come in.

To understand what you can do as a leader to address gender inequity in your organization, join Michelle King and HBR on September 16.
